Jo Shimoda Takes Second Overall at Ironman National

AMA Pro Motocross 2025 – Round 9
Consistent 2-2 finishes highlight strong performance for Japanese star
AMA Pro Motocross returned from a two-week break with round 9 at Ironman Raceway, where Honda HRC Progressive’s Jo Shimoda delivered an impressive ride to claim second overall in the 250 class. The Japanese rider powered his CRF250RWE to back-to-back 2-2 moto finishes, further cementing his status as one of the elite competitors in the series.
Shimoda grabbed the holeshot in Moto 1 and quickly established control at the front of the pack. He led much of the race before being overtaken in the closing stages, but still finished nearly 50 seconds ahead of third place.
In Moto 2, Shimoda started inside the top five and quickly slotted into second behind the leader. The pair pulled away from the rest of the field, with Shimoda riding consistently to secure another runner-up finish.
With his 2-2 results, Shimoda earned second overall on the day and remains a strong contender in the 250 championship standings. He also set the fastest lap time in Moto 1, underlining both his speed and consistency at Ironman Raceway.
Looking Ahead
AMA Pro Motocross continues with the penultimate round at Unadilla MX in New Berlin, New York, on August 16.
