Jo signs new agreement with Honda HRC Progressive

Honda HRC Progressive has confirmed that Jo Shimoda finalised a new agreement with the factory team for the 2026 season. The announcement follows a standout 2025 campaign where Jo captured his first professional AMA title, winning the SuperMotocross 250 Championship and securing multiple podiums across Supercross and Pro Motocross.

Born and raised in Suzuka, Japan, Jo began riding at just four years old before moving to the U.S. to chase his dream of competing against the best in the world. After rising through Honda’s Factory Connection amateur program and turning professional in 2019, Jo’s career has been defined by consistency, precision, and quiet determination. In 2025, he made history as the first Japanese rider to win a professional AMA Championship, closing out the year with two SuperMotocross overall wins and a runner-up finish in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

He also represented Team Japan at the Motocross of Nations, where he impressed on his 450 debut with 2-6 finishes. Jo shared his excitement about the new deal, saying:

“Since I was young, I’ve always seen HRC as one of the most advanced teams in motorsport. Growing up near the Suzuka Circuit, Honda has always been a big part of my life, and it means a lot to continue this journey with them.”

Honda’s Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing & Advertising, added: “We’re proud of the progress Jo has made with his speed and confidence over the past few seasons. He’s played a key role in the development of our CRF250RWE program, and we’re excited to see what’s ahead.”

The 2026 season marks an exciting new chapter for Jo Shimoda and Honda HRC Progressive, as they look to build on their championship success and continue setting new standards in global motocross competition.
