Jo Shimoda Captures SMX 250 Victory in St. Louis
SuperMotocross World Championship – Round 2
Despite illness, Shimoda delivers gritty 2-2 moto scores to take overall win and red plate

At Round 2 of the 2025 SuperMotocross Playoffs, Honda HRC Progressive’s Jo Shimoda overcame illness to secure a remarkable overall victory in the 250 class at The Dome at America’s Center. With determined 2-2 moto finishes, the Japanese star claimed the red plate and enters the Las Vegas finale with a crucial points lead.
In moto 1, Shimoda launched his CRF250RWE into second place early and held strong throughout the race, fending off pressure while battling the effects of a fever. Despite his physical condition, he rode with composure to cross the line in runner-up position.
Moto 2 saw Shimoda take the holeshot before being passed by Tom Vialle, but knowing that another second-place finish would secure the overall, he delivered a disciplined ride to hold his spot. His 2-2 performance was enough to clinch the overall win, marking his second career SMX 250 overall victory.
With this result, Shimoda now carries a 10-point advantage into the Las Vegas finale, placing him in prime position to contend for the 2025 SMX 250 Championship.
Looking Ahead
The SuperMotocross World Championship concludes with the Las Vegas finale at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on September 20, where Jo Shimoda will battle for the 2025 SMX 250 title.
